Dr. Aisha D. Williams
Dr. Williams is the Program Director for the Human Services program and an Assistant Professor. Dr. Williams holds a Bachelor of Social Work from Clark Atlanta University, A Master of Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis, and a PhD. In Social Work, Policy, and Planning from Clark Atlanta University. ). Dr. Williams has over 10 years of post MSW experience in both direct practice and administration with most of her direct practice in the field of mental health. Dr. Williams is a Christian therapist with a biblical worldview and previously counseled women in private practice. Her research interest includes health and mental health disparities, cultural diversity, and managed care. Additionally, assessment and curriculum development is an area of focus for Dr. Williams.
At Shorter University, Dr. Williams actively serves on the Honors committee, QEP committee, and Graduate Admissions committee. Dr. Williams teaches a variety of Human Services courses and select management courses within the Nonprofit Human Services Management specialization, both online and on-ground. Dr. Williams is honored to serve Shorter University and Shorter’s students.
Dr. Elaine Barclay
Dr. Elaine M. Barclay is honored to serve in the capacity of Assistant Professor of Human Services, Field Placement Coordinator, and Counseling Services at Shorter University. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Service from Shorter University, a Master of Arts in Community Counseling from Argosy University, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Human Services with a specialization in Family Studies and Intervention Strategies from Walden University. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a National Certified Counselor (NCC), and a Human Service Board Certified Practitioner (HS-BCP).
Prior to joining the faculty team at Shorter University, she worked as a Therapist and Marketing Coordinator for Advance Therapeutic Concepts. She is the co-founder and CEO of Considerate Soul Ministries, Inc. as well as Purposeful Soul Counseling Center.
At Shorter University, Dr. Barclay teaches introduction to human services, counseling skills, professional ethics, lifespan development, psychopathology, cultural diversity, intro to research methods, addictive behaviors, case management, practicum II and III, human service theory, and applied human services project courses on-campus and online both at the undergraduate level. She guides students through their practicum experience and she provides counseling services to the student body. Her area of research include domestic violence (DV) offenders and DV facilitators.
She is joyfully married to Pastor Kevin Barclay and honored to have four passionate children, DeShawn, Alayna, Alexis, and Zo’e. She has one amazing grandson, Prynce. Her favorite bible verse is Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.”
