International Students

Shorter University continues to attract growing numbers of international students to our institution because we are focused on providing an environment that provides support, guidance, and encouragement. The Office of Online Programs & Adult Education wishes to provide current and potential international students helpful information to successfully complete the admission requirements, financial support information, and to understand the policies, procedures, and costs of attending Shorter University.

Admissions

Requirements for Undergraduate Admission:

  • Submit Online Application by clicking “Apply Now” at top of page and completing the Online Degree Programs Application.
  • Send All Official Transcripts (high school and college) to Shorter University.

International transcripts must be evaluated through one of the following services:

  • World Education Services (https://www.wes.org) or
  • Josef Silny & Associates (http://www.jsilny.com/)
  • Send Official Test Scores

English speakers must submit official scores from either the SAT or ACT (unless you have completed 24+ credit hours of transferable college credit).
Non-native English speakers can choose SAT, ACT, TOEFL or IELTS. Below are minimum scores accepted:

  • SAT: 450 critical reading / 450 math
  • ACT: 19
  • TOEFL: IBT 61/ CBT 173 / PBT 500
  • IELTS: 5
  • PTE: 44
  • Copy of Passport

Requirements for Graduate Admission:

  • Submit Online Application by clicking “Apply Now” at top of page and completing the Online Degree Programs Application.
  • Send All Official Transcripts to Shorter University.

Undergraduate grade point average of at least 2.75 for the last 60 hours. International transcripts must be evaluated through one of the following services:

  • World Education Services (https://www.wes.org) or
  • Josef Silny & Associates (http://www.jsilny.com/)
  • Current Resume
  • A Personal Statement of Objectives

Must emphasize how the completion of the Master’s program will affect the applicant’s professional performance and career goals.

  • 2 Professional Letters of Recommendation
  • Send Official Test Scores
  • Copy of Passport

Non-native English speakers need to submit a IBT/TOEFL or IELTS. Below are minimum scores accepted:

  • IBT /TOEFL Score Minimum of 68 on the iBT
  • IELTS minimum of 5 within the last 2 years.
  • PTE: 48

Conditional Admissions

  • Shorter University does issue Conditional Admissions.
  • Students who meet all admission requirements except for English Proficiency will be issued a letter of Conditional Admission stating that the student’s attendance to Shorter University will be deferred upon completion of the required English proficiency.
  • Shorter University will refer the student to local Intensive Language programs:
    • For instance: Kennesaw State University- 1 hour from Shorter University
    • Georgia Tech Language Institute- 1 ½ hours from Shorter University-Downtown of Atlanta

Additional Information
Please note the following:

  • For each semester, students shall pay tuition and all other fees (pertaining to that semester) at the beginning of the semester.
  • Payment is required before the student attends the first class.
